Hitech GP has decided to terminate its long-term agreement with Russian company Uralkali in the wake of the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

Hitech GP and Uralkali came together around 2018 and have since been partners in various junior championships. The branding of the company runs on the rear wing of the car along with logos on the race suits of the drivers and on the nose of the car.

In fact, Hitech GP also helped Uralkali when they tried to bid to buy the Racing Point F1 team. However, they lost out to the consortium led by Lawrence Stroll, which led to a court case initiated by Dimtry Mazepin in the manner the bid was awarded to the Canadian.

Uralkali found his way in F1 with Haas when Nikita Mazepin joined the team last year. Hitech GP, meanwhile, continued to keep the sponsorship until the Bahrain F2 and F3 test where it removed the Russian company’s logos from its car amid discussions.

In the meantime, Oliver Oakes took full control of Hitech GP from other shareholders. With the F2 and F3 season not far off from its start, the British outfit has since released a statement of ending its agreement with Uralkali in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

With both Haas and Hitech GP gone, Uralkali don’t have any motor racing association especially in the F1 paddock as of now. The company has so far not stated anything about the end of the deals, but Mazepin is slated to host a press conference on Wednesday.

Double R Racing’s Hampus Ericsson scored his first BRDC British F3 victory in Race 3 at Snetterton circuit, last weekend.

Hampus – brother of ex-F1 and current IndyCar driver Marcus – eked out his maiden victory in the final race of Round 2 of 2019 British F3 season at Snetterton for Double R Racing. Ericsson started Race 3 from the front row alongside Fortec’s Jonathan Hoggard.

Both had a good start but Ericsson made a better one to get by Hoggard, who then had to defend from Double R Racing’s Neil Verhagen. The duo made contact as both retired along with Douglas Motorsport’s Kiern Jewiss.

The safety car was out to clear the cars with Ericsson leading from Carlin pair of Clement Novalak and Kaylen Frederick. After a lengthy run, the safety car pulled in at Lap 5 as Ericsson defended his position hard from Novalak.

The British stayed on the tail of the Swede for the remainder of race but couldn’t get through as Ericsson held him off by 0.672s in the end to claim his first British F3 win – his second podium finish after scoring in 2018 at Donington Park.

Hampus joined his brother in the British F3 winning list after Marcus took his when he raced for the same team under the name of Raikkonen Robertson Racing in 2009. The good results in Snetterton has put Ericsson fourth in standings with 98 points.

His previous best for 2019 was fourth in Race 1 of the weekend as he ended up seventh in Race 2. The championship though is led by Novalak with 158 points from Hoggard, who has 121 with Ayrton Simmons in third with 99 after the two rounds.

“I think Clement had great speed behind me but at this track it’s so hard to pass,” said Ericsson after the race. “So I was a bit lucky with the safety car and in the end I kept Clement behind so I’m happy with that.

“He was a bit too close for comfort, and for sure he was trying to force me into a mistake but I kept my head cool and finished first, so I’m happy.”

It ended up being a good weekend for the Swedish brothers though as Marcus managed to qualify inside the Top 15 in 13th for his first-ever Indy500 start for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda team alongside James Hinchcliffe.

Hampus Ericsson, brother of Marcus, will compete full-time in the 2019 BRDC British F3 Championship, it has been announced.

The younger brother of former F1 and current IndyCar racer, Marcus, will race in the British F3 series in 2019 with Double R Racing after making his debut in 2018 with Fortec in the last two weekends, where he even scored a podium.

Hampus Ericsson is Double R’s first 2019 signing and the fourth driver overall in the series. He is the second Swede to race in 2019 after Carlin signed up Lucas Petersson, with Douglas Motorsport taking up Kiern Jewiss and Joshua Mason sticking with Lanan.

First of all, I want to thank Boyo [Hieatt], Double R, my sponsors, investors and, of course, my brother Marcus to give me the opportunity to do this,” said Hampus Ericsson. “I did two test days with the team in December and it felt great.

The guys pushed me and gave me a great car to drive so I’m looking forward to the start of the season.” The 16-year-old becomes the second member of the Ericsson family to race for Double R after Marcus did in 2009 when it ran as Raikkonen Robertson Racing.

Team principal Anthony Hieatt added: “Hampus is a driver we rate very highly, he more than proved his ability at Donington last year with a podium on his first weekend in British F3 so we’re absolutely delighted he is joining Double R.

We obviously know what he’s done in British F4 too, he’s a very quick and talented driver, and it’s great to have another Ericsson back at Double R. We’re very pleased to have such a promising young racer signed as our first driver for the 2019 season.

Now we’ll be stepping up our testing and preparations. We’re confident Hampus is a driver who will make a major impression on the championship this year, definitely one to watch.” More drivers will be announced at a later stage.

Young driver Billy Monger, who returned to racing this season at the British Formula 3 Championship after had both his legs amputated following a terrific crash, has been honoured with the Helen Rollason Award by BBC last weekend.

The British had only 18 years old when he suffered a serious crash during the British Formula 4 race at Donington Park in 16 April 2017. Monger strongly hit another car and suffered a commotion that kept him in a coma for three days. Fortunately, he got to survive, but his both legs had to be amputated.

The case claimed the attention of a lot of personalities from the sports world and motorsport in particular, and drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen or Jenson Butten supported the young. After a recovery period, Monger told his firm desire to return to racing. His comeback was in February of this year, when he drove for first time a racing car in a test with Carlin.

Few days later, Carlin Motorsport confirmed him as a full-time driver for the British Formula 3 Championship 2018 season. The Englishman finished third in his first race after the injury at Oulton Park circuit with an adapted car and impressed everyone, included himself. He achieved four podiums finishes throughout the season and was sixth in overall final drivers classification.

His overcoming history was considered by the BBC as Helen Rollason Award, which recognises outstanding achievement in the face of adversity since 1999. Monger received the award last Sunday evening at BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award ceremony with more than 15.000 guests at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham. “Billy truly embodies what this award is all about – overcoming adversity and triumphing during times of immense struggle”, said Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport.

He was presented with his award by his hero, five-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, surrounded by his family, team and the Donington Park marshals, doctors and nurses who helped to save his life. “I have to say a massive thank you to my doctors and surgeons because without them I might not be here toda. It’s a real honour to share the stage with them because they saved my life”, told Monger.

The young British driver also had words of thanks to the Carlin Motorsport team, who confidently trusted him at the beginning of the year when it wasn’t known if he could compete at the same level with an adapted car. “I set my targets quite high after my accident to get back racing and without everyone at Carlin Motorsport I wouldn’t have been able to achieve my dream. Motorsport is a team sport. Their belief in me more than anything allowed me to achieve this” said the young driver.

At 19 years old, Monger looks at the future with optimism knowing that he has to use the second opportunity that the life, the sports and the motorsport is giving him.

The 2018 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship season ended in an abrupt fashion after rain played spoilsport all day long with Lanan Racing Joshua Mason winning Race 2.

After Double R Racing’s Linus Lundqvist’s victory on Saturday in Race 1 secured the 2018 title for the Swede, it was a washout on Sunday as only two laps of racing took place that too behind the safety car.

The Race 2 started after a delay behind the safety car with Mason on reverse grid pole from Hillspeed’s Ben Hurst and Douglas Motorsport’s Arvin Esmaeili. The rain continued to fall as they ran behind the safety car as the clerk of the course decided to nullify the race.

It seemed a cancellation but the organisers confirmed that the drivers will be awarded the full points since they completed two full laps which meant Mason took his first ever British F3 win from Hurst and Esmaeili.

Carlin’s Clement Novalak was fourth from teammate Sun Yue Yang with Lanan Racing’s Kush Maini in sixth, Hillspeed’s Sasakorn Chaimongkol seventh, Douglas Motorsport’s Jamie Chadwick eighth, Fortec’s Hampus Ericsson ninth and Hillspeed’s Jusuf Owega 10th.

A statement from the clerk of the course stated: “Race two of the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship on Sunday 14 October was started behind the Safety Car in accordance with MSA Regulations.

“The race was abandoned due to heavy rain and standing water and the cars were returned to the Pit Lane. The results show that the leader had completed TWO laps. In accordance with BRDC British Formula 3 Championship regulation 1.6.4 full points are awarded.”

The same couldn’t happen for the final race of the season as well as the weekend as the conditions worsened at Silverstone with the decision taken by the organisers MSVR to cancel all the events.

And so, Lundqvist ended with 531 points as Carlin’s Nicolai Kjaergaard had 446 with Maini securing third with 366 points from Double R Racing’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik in fourth with 358 and Fortec’s Tom Gamble rounding the Top 5 with 346.

Double R Racing’s Linus Lundqvist was crowned the 2018 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship champion after winning Race 1 at Silverstone.

Lundqvist did well to take pole in a wet qualifying on Saturday to start the finale weekend on a perfect note at Silverstone. Title rival Carlin’s Nicolai Kjaergaard was fourth with Carlin’s Billy Monger and Fortec’s Tom Gamble in between.

It didn’t matter in the end as Kjaergaard unfortunately retired on the very first lap which meant all Lundqvist had to do was to finish the race to secure the 2018 title. He did better as the Swede took his seventh win and the championship as well.

Lundqvist has 531 points to Kjaergaard’s 446 – and has an unassailable lead despite the second race being dependent on overtake points as well. “It’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Lundqvist post his win.

“It’s just been an incredible year and I just want to start off by thanking my team, Double R Racing. They have been incredible all year and it’s been a ride since day one, considering when you look back all the way to round one at Oulton Park, it’s been a rollercoaster.

“I can’t believe I’m standing here saying I’m champion. It’s unbelievable, I’m just so happy and pretty emotional. I think Tom made a better start than I did and he had a bit of a run with the slipstream going into Maggots.

“But I put my head down knowing I had the corner and the next one. I just tried to push as hard as I could and we built ourselves a lead after lap one, and tried to push as hard as I could from there. Obviously it was enough.

“I didn’t know Nicolai had gone off until I came into the pits, and it was only when I pulled up in front of the team when I put one and one together and realised I had done it.” Meanwhile, in the race, it was Gamble and Monger completing the podium.

The Fortec driver overtook Monger at the start of the race to take second as Monger claimed his second consecutive podium. Fortec’s Manuel Maldonado was fourth having started the race in sixth with Chris Dittmann Racing’s Ayrton Simmons in fifth.

The British driver also made up two places, same as Double R Racing’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik in sixth. Hillspeed’s Jusuf Owega chased Mahadik hard but couldn’t get through the defences of the Indian.

Fortec’s Hampus Ericsson was eighth from Douglas Motorsport’s Jamie Chadwick with Hillspeed’s Sasakorn Chaimongkol rounding the Top 10, having cleared Lanan Racing’s Kush Maini late in the race. Two more races will be held on Sunday.

Carlin’s Nicolai Kjaergaard kept his title hopes alive with two wins in 2018 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship round at Donington Park.

The Danish driver did well to qualifying on the front-row alongside teammate Billy Monger for Race 1 on Saturday. He didn’t waste much time to take the lead on a damp track in the opening lap as Monger dropped ground to sixth after a poor start.

Chris Dittmann Racing’s Ayrton Simmons slotted in second from Carlin’s Jamie Caroline who cleared the British driver on Lap 2. While Kjaergaard led the way, Caroline steadied in second with Simmons then fighting with Double R Racing’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik.

The Indian made a good start to be fourth from eighth in the opening sequence. The two had a back and forth tussle for third which Mahadik won eventually on Lap 9 to finish third as Kjaergaard took the win from Caroline.

It was crucial for the Dane as title rival Double R Racing’s Linus Lundqvist was only eighth in the order. Simmons then lost out to the recovering Monger as well who salvaged fourth after starting on pole.

Lanan Racing’s Kush Maini ended up fifth ahead of Simmons with Fortec’s Manuel Maldonado in seventh followed by Lundqvist, Hillspeed’s Jusuf Owega and Douglas Motorsport’s Jamie Chadwick in the Top 10.

Race 2

The second race on Sunday was marred with red flags and safety car period which meant only eight racing laps were completed. The initial start was red-flagged due to damage to the circuit thwarting Fortec’s Tom Gamble’s lead run over Carlin’s Sun Yue Yang.

The Chinese driver took reverse-grid pole but lost out to Gamble on initial start. However, with the red flag, the grid took position as per the original grid meaning Yang started on pole alongside Hillspeed’s Sasakorn Chaimongkol.

Yang held on to his lead this time but Chaimongkol lost out heavily as Double R Racing’s Pavan Ravishankar and Gamble assumed second and third when the safety car was deployed for a multi-car incident at the back of the field.

The clash was initiated by Douglas Motorsport’s Max Defourny who sent teammate Arvin Esmaeili into a spin as he took with him points leader Lundqvist, Owega and Maini – all four retiring on the spot.

The Belgian was handed a 10-second time penalty following the incident which dropped him to 11th from his original fifth position. The race re-started with Yang leading while Ravishankar came under tremendous pressure from Gamble.

The British driver snatched second on Lap 6 where he would finish behind Yang, who claimed his first win of his career. However, Gamble was excluded from the result for a technical infringement, allowing Ravishankar to be second.

This promoted debutant Fortec’s Hampus Ericsson to third – brother of Formula 1 driver Marcus – as the Swede claimed his first podium finish. Chaimongkol recovered to fourth with Mahadik in fifth after Defourny’s penalty.

The Top 10 was then completed by Simmons in sixth followed by Lanan’s Josh Mason, Caroline, Chris Dittmann Racing’s Cian Carey and Kjaergaard. It was Lundqvist’s first DNF of 2018 in a race which saw only 14 finishers.

Race 3

It was Monger on pole again for the final race of the weekend alongside teammate Kjaergaard in a repeat of Race 1. However, this time Monger held on to his lead for the opening lap despite attempts from the Dane.

But not for long as a mistake from Monger dropped him to fourth allowing Kjaergaard to take the lead on Lap 2 with Mahadik jumping from sixth to second ahead of Caroline. The British driver’s suspension issue brought Monger back to third on Lap 3.

The safety car then bunched up the field together but Kjaergaard had enough legs on re-start to keep his lead while Mahadik came under pressure from Monger for second. The two then ensued in a close fight which allowed Kjaergaard to pull away.

In the end, the Dane claimed his second win of the weekend and fifth of the season in a dominant performance with Mahadik fending off Monger to take his second podium of the weekend while Monger claimed his first.

Even though the British driver couldn’t win any of the races, but he managed to put the car on pole twice on the same circuit where he had the horrific crash last year in British F4. Chadwick finished fourth from Ericsson with Defourny in sixth.

The Belgian fended off pressure from Simmons as Maldonando, Yang and Chainmongkol completed the Top 10 as championship leader Lundqvist could only manage 11th in what was a difficult round for the Swede.

Even though he keeps the advantage heading into the finale at Silverstone, Kjaergaard (446) brought down the gap to just 50 points to still keep himself in the contention. Maini (346) also dropped points in third as Mahadik (316) gained a place to fourth.

Formula 1 racer Marcus Ericsson younger brother Hampus will graduate to compete in the BRDC British Formula 3 for the rest of the 2018 season, it has been announced.

The 16-year-old made his formula racing debut in 2017 in the British Formula 4 with Fortec Motorsports where he finished 10th in his rookie season with 69 points and two podium positions. He won the rookie category scoring 367.5 points.

The Swede continued in the series for another year in 2018 but missed the last round at Knockhill in what has been a difficult season. He has since decided to graduate to British F3 with Fortec, joining the series for the rounds at Donington Park and Silverstone.

“I’m really looking forward to making the move up to BRDC British F3 for the last two rounds of the season,” said Ericsson. “I’m also very happy to be remaining with the Fortec team as I move up into a new series.

“They’ve helped me a lot with my development in F4, and I know they’ll help me adapt to the new car very quickly. I’m looking to end my season on a high, and hope for strong results at Donington and Silverstone.”

Team manager Russ Dixon added: “We’re very pleased to welcome Hampus to our British F3 team. He’s had a difficult season in F4, with issues beyond his control, and we feel a change of scenery will help him to display the natural talent and speed he has shown us.

“We look forward to seeing him in the British F3 car and we think he’ll spring a surprise or two in the final two rounds.” Ericsson joins Manual Maldonado – brother of Pastor and Tom Gamble in the three-car team in the #44 car.

He also joins fellow countrymen Double R Racing’s Linus Lundqvist who seems to be in line to win the 2018 title as he sits on top with 473 points to second placed Nicolai Kjaergaard’s 362 and Douglas Motorsport’s Arvin Esmaeili.

Douglas Motorsport’s Jamie Chadwick created history by winning Race 2 in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship at Brands Hatch, as Linus Lundqvist continued his top run after Round 6.

Carlin’s Jamie Caroline started off the weekend at Brands Hatch in fine form after the British took Race 1 win on Saturday from pole in a dominant fashion. In fact, Caroline led a Carlin 1-2-3 in qualifying.

The results in the race couldn’t be repeated though as championship leader Double R Racing’s Lundqvist cleared two of the Carlin drivers in the opening lap to take second. The Swede did try to catch Caroline but his older tyres strategy didn’t do him favours.

He had to be content with second as Nicolai Kjaergaard completed the podium from Billy Monger. With Sue Yue Yang in fifth, it ended up being a Carlin 1-3-4-5. The Chinese driver was well ahead of the two Indians.

Lanan Racing’s Kush Maini was sixth from Double R Racing’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik as the Top 10 was completed by Fortec’s Manuel Maldonando & Tam Gamble and Hillspeed’s Sasakorn Chaimongkol.

It was Hillspeed’s Ben Hurst to start on pole in Race 2 on Sunday with Douglas Motorsport’s Arvin Esmaeili alongside him, but second row’s Double R Racing’s Pavan Ravishankar made the most at the start to take the lead from Chadwick.

However, it was soon adjudged that Ravishankar made a false start as the Singaporean was then handed a 10-second penalty. It pretty much gave Chadwick the victory as a 10-second lead was hard to bridge for Ravishankar.

He did finish first but dropped to 10th as a result handing Chadwick her first win in British F3. In fact, she became the first female ever to win a race in the category. Chadwick was followed by the two Indian drivers on the podium.

It was Mahadik in second with Maini in third – the two gaining from Ravishankar’s penalty. Both had a busy race having started in ninth and 10th respectively. Maini was in front of Mahadik at one point, but the latter cleared him on safety car re-start.

They then made a quick work of Esmaeili and Chaimongkol to take third and fourth respectively which eventually became a podium finish for both. Chaimongkol held on to fourth with Esmaeili in fifth.

The latter did come under pressure from Hillspeed’s Jusuf Owega but managed well as the two Fortec drivers were again together with Maldonado leading Gamble for seventh. Kjaergaard was ninth as Ravishankar rounded the Top 10.

“I knew Pavan would get a penalty for the start, I was hoping he would get a drive through so I could just get my head down but I knew he was getting the penalty so I just sat behind him,” she said.

“I’ve had much harder races for lower positions so it was nice to have that one a little bit easier and to get that first win. Fortunately starting a bit further up helped me out a bit. I’m absolutely delighted and a big thanks to the Douglas Motorsport team for making this happen.”

The Race 3 of the weekend had Kjaergaard starting on pole from Lundqvist and Caroline. The Dane made a good start to lead but uncharacteristically Lundqvist lost a place to Caroline off the line.

The two Carlin drivers were in a fight among themselves at the front as they traded quick laps but Kjaergaard held on to take his first win of the weekend and his first since Snetterton weekend’s Race 1.

Caroline was only 0.414s behind to complete a sound weekend upon his debut at Spa-Francorchamps with Lundqvist completing the podium positions, thereby edging ever closer to the title with two rounds remaining.

The Swede has 473 points to Kjaergaard’s 362 with six races to go in the 2018 season. Maini is third with 321 points to his name, followed by Gamble with 302 and Mahadik rounding out the Top 5 with 261.

Meanwhile, Fortec’s Gamble took fourth after Yang’s mishap on Lap 6 which dropped him at the back of the field, with Monger a close fifth and Maini in sixth. It was a huge gap then as Maldonado defended seventh from Mahadik, Owega and Chaimongkol in the Top 10.

The BRDC British Formula 3 Championship fight is slowly heading towards a one-way result with Double R Racing’s Linus Lundqvist continuing his dominance in the 2018 season.

The Swede has pulled out a 120 points gap from his nearest challenger Carlin’s Nicolai Kjaergaard after last weekend’s round at Spa-Francorchamps where he took two more wins to take his tally to six in the season – the most by miles.

The next best is Kjaergaard with two, the same as Fortec’s Tom Gamble and Manuel Maldonado. The results have helped Lundqvist to 412 points from the 15 races to Kjaergaard’s 292 while Lanan Racing’s Kush Maini is third with 265.

Gamble had pole for Race 1 on Saturday with Lundqvist in second. The Swede didn’t make a good start to fall down to fourth but then cleared the likes of Double R Racing’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik, Maldonado and Gamble to get back into the lead position.

Once at the front, he had firm control to win by 0.495s over Gamble. His teammate Mahadik finished third after starting from seventh, thereby making it a Double R Racing 1-3 after the Indian cleared Maldonado on Lap 6.

The race saw a safety car period when newcomer Douglas Motorsport’s Max Defourny crashed heavily as Raidillon – the Belgian couldn’t return for the remaining races as the car was damaged beyond repair.

Meanwhile, Maldonado settled for fourth ahead of Kjaergaard with Carlin’s Billy Monger leading Maini. The Top 10 was completed by Hillspeed’s Jusuf Owega, Carlin’s Sun Yue Yang and Hillspeed’s Sasakorn Chaimongkol.

Another newcomer Chris Dittmann Racing’s Ayrton Simmons had pole for Race 2 on Sunday with Hillspeed’s Ben Hurst alongside him and Fortec’s Tristan Charpentier in third. Meanwhile, Maini was handed a five-place penalty for contact with Monger in Race 1.

The Indian started from 17th to finish 10th. The fight for win though had a fine run from debutant Jamie Caroline in the Carlin car. The British driver made a rocketing start to go from eighth to second on Lap 1.

He then cleared Charpentier on Lap 5 to take over the race lead. Once in the front, he built a solid advantage to win by 3.085s over Charpentier. However, the Frenchman was handed a one-second penalty for his fight with Chaimongkol.

Charpentier was found to have moved around more than the stated times to prevent Chaimongkol to pass him for second. With the penalty, Charpentier lost his second place to Chaimongkol, who started from ninth on the grid to eventually finish second.

Charpentier still kept the podium place in third with pole-sitter Simmons settling for fourth. Mahadik initially finished fifth in the race but was also handed a one-second penalty for an illegal move on Douglas Motorsport’s Jamie Chadwick.

All four wheels were off track when the Indian passed Chadwick on track. The penalty meant Chadwick regained fifth with Mahadik dropping to be sixth ahead of Yang, Lundqvist, Owega and Maini – the Swede fighting his way up from last on the grid.

The Race 3 saw a slow start from pole-sitter Gamble as he dropped to third with Monger taking over the lead from Lundqvist. The Swede though wasted no time to pass Monger on Lap 2 to take over the race lead.

Once in the front, he stretched it well until a late comeback from Gamble who managed to clear Monger. The Fortec driver didn’t have enough legs in the end to finish 0.770s with Monger claiming his second podium of the season.

Maldonado eked out another good result to be fourth as Owega climbed from eighth to finish a sound fifth leading Caroline closely as Charpentier, Mahadik, Yang and Chaimongkol rounded out the Top 10. Kjaergaard retired from the race with Maini finishing in 11th.

Only few months after its launch in the Italian and German Formula 4 Championships, the Monisha Kaltenborn and Emily Di Comberti-led KDC Racing has already gone bankrupt.

The former Sauber Formula 1 Team boss Kaltenborn launched the team alongside di Comberti as an all-female managed outfit to compete in the two of the biggest F4 championships in Germany and Italy.

The team started the ADAC F4 championship with Aaron di Comberti and Leonardo Lorandi, but only entered in the first three rounds – missing the last round at Red Bull Ring. The team has three points finishes from either drivers in the nine races in the series.

Meanwhile, in the Italian F4 series, the team fielded di Comberti along with Toby Sowery and Ilya Morozov in the first two rounds only, with Sowery scoring two podiums in the four points scoring races.

With only five rounds across the two championships, the team went bankrupt last month. The reported news has now been confirmed by Lanan Racing team boss Graham Johnson, whom the KDC Racing team owner di Comberti owes nearly £90,000.

Johnson though added that the money is not related to the KDC Racing team competing in F4, but for their son Aaron who raced for Lanan Racing in the first four rounds of the 2017 BRDC British F3 Championship.

The statement to Formula Rapida from Johnson stated: “The Team owner of KDC Racing is now bankrupt owing me close to £90,000. As a bankrupt she/he can not be a company director anywhere. The KDC team have not raced for a while and owe suppliers money.”

He also revealed that the court’s hearing for the unpaid dues was scheduled for last month where di Comberti did not appear and was then declared bankrupt. The court is now investigating their financial condition to recover the debt.

Elaborating on Aaron’s stint with Lanan, Johnson stated that the youngster started on well in the pre-season testing but faced difficulties during the season, unable to convert into high-end results, even though he scored regular points.

This resulted in Aaron’s father pulling him out of the team and the championship altogether as he then made his racing return only in 2018 for his the KDC Racing team in the German and Italian F4 championships.

Until now, there has been no news or statements from either di Comberti and or Kaltenborn’s side on the matter.

Double R Racing’s Linus Lundqvist further extended his points lead in the 2018 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship after a win and a podium from the three races in Round 4 at Silverstone.

The Swede beat Lanan Racing’s Kush Maini to pole by 0.051s for Saturday’s Race 1 after clocking a time of 1m56.692s. Carlin’s Clement Novalak was third whereas the other contender, Carlin’s Nicolai Kjaegaard was only seventh.

Race 1

It was a feisty battle for the race win on Saturday as Lundqvist and Maini went head-to-head in the 10-lap race all the way along. Both had good starts to lead the way with Lundqvist just managing to stay ahead of Maini.

The Indian then started to claw in on the brand new set of tyres. He attempted a move on Lap 8 as they went wheel-to-wheel for few corners but Lundqvist managed to hold him off after Maini took the outside line at Luffield.

Despite looking quicker, the Indian had to settle with second finishing 0.392s off Lundvqist with Douglas’ Jordan Cane completing the podium after he managed to clear Novalak in the opening lap and caught on the Top 2 battle.

Novalak finished fourth ahead of Douglas’ Jamie Chadwick as Kjaegaard cleared Carlin’s Billy Monger to be sixth, with Monger losing another place to Hillspeed’s Jusuf Owega in eighth. Double R’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik and Fortec’s Tom Gamble completed the Top 10.

Positions 11-17: Tristan Charpentier, Manuel Maldonado, Sun Yue Yang, Sasakorn Chaimongkol, Arvin Esmaeili, Ben Hurst and Pavan Ravishankar.

Race 2

A whole reverse grid helped Double R Racing’s Ravishankar on pole to extend his lead ahead while his rivals jostled for second position. Douglas’ Esmaeili took the place from Hurst in the opening lap, but lost out to Carlin’s Yang on Lap 3.

Esmaeili continued to drop down the order while the Top 2 settled in their positions. Fortec’s Charpentier got to third from seventh with teammate Gamble following him on. The British driver made the move stick on Lap 7 to take third.

Ravishankar ahead took a comfortable first win from Yang who fended off a charging Gamble to secure his maiden podium. Kjaegaard was one of the biggest mover to finish fourth from 12th on the grid ahead of Charpentier.

The Fortec driver just managed to hold off Lundqvist who charged through the field from 17th to finish sixth. Monger was seventh ahead of Cane who made up seven places, while Chadwick and Chaimongkol completed the Top 10.

Positions 11-17: Novalak, Esmaeili, Hurst, Maini, Owega, Maldonado and Mahadik.

Race 3

It was a slow start from Lanan’s Maini from pole in the final race of the weekend. He lost out to Gamble in the process. The Indian fought back at Maggots and Becketts going wheel-to-wheel but had to surrender the position.

This allowed fast-starter Lundqvist to sneak past Maini to take second, demoting the Indian to third. It was status quo then on as Gamble took his second win ahead of Lundqvist and Maini who had to defend from Kjaergaard as well.

The Dane settled for fourth ahead of Cane who dropped from third to fifth as Novalak also lost a place to finish sixth in the order. Maldonado made up five places to seventh in the opening lap of the 10-lap race.

The Top 10 was then completed by Owega, Charpentier and Mahadik – the Indian losing out to the Fortec driver on Lap 2 after yet another storming start from 15th to ninth for the Double R Racing driver.

Positions 11-17: Yang, Ravishankar, Chadwick, Chaimongkol, Esmaeili, Hurst and Monger.

With half of the 2018 season completed, Lundqvist holds the top spot with 324 points, followed by Kjaergaard on 268 and Maini on 227. Gamble stays fourth with 203 as Cane leapfrogs Mahadik with 159 to 153 while Maldonado is just one way with 152 in seventh.

Never give up and keep the faith up on yourself. This are two of the main weapons of the british driver, Billy Monger. So, one year later, the brit come back to the track where life completely changed for him. Here was where he had a realy bad accident that will remind all his life, where unfortunately, he lost his two legs. It was here at Oulton Park but, away from complaining, the brit fought and now he hopes to compete at the entery BRDC Formula 3 championship. By now, he will be at the starting grid at Oulton Park.

Anyways, Monger it’s only confirmed for the Oulton Park round and it’s an unknown if he is going to be at next round at Rockingham circuit. For sure it will depend on his performance this weekend. It’s known the interest from the driver, but also from the team and the championship, so we will see.

Today, has started the weekend and the Carlin driver demonstrated that he is here to comeback at the championship with good results. The hard training and his exigent preparation, also his efforts to compete despite his injuries, all this didn’t suposed a barrier to stablish the fifth best time at today’s qualification for the first race. One of the unknowns of the race is if Monger could make up a place for the podium.

Carlin has confirmed Nicolai Kjaergaard as the first driver in their 2018 BRDC British Formula Three line-up. Joining reigning champions Carlin after a year racing in the series in 2017, Danish driver Kjaergaard will be out on track in his Tatuus-Cosworth car shortly with a busy pre-season test programme to look forward to ahead of the first round of Formula Three racing action which gets underway at the end of March at Oulton Park.

18-year-old Kjaergaard already has two years of single seat experience under his belt following a season racing in the F4 British Championship in 2016 which was followed by his debut season in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship last year. Kjaergaard enjoyed a solid 2017 showing, securing strong top ten finishes throughout the course of the eight-round championship. Prior to this, Kjaergaard raced karts in the CIK-FIA Euro KF before making the move to single seaters.

Kjaergaard will be on track to make the most of pre-season testing over the course of the coming months as he looks ahead to the eight-round series which takes in legendary tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps, the Danish driver’s favourite circuit, and the home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone.

Kjaergaard said of the upcoming season, “I definitely feel excted to be joining Carlin; the team won the championship last year, in fact finished first and second, so hopefully I can go out and be a challenger for the championship this year, this is the goal for me and the team.  I feel like it’s a step up in terms of expectations both from myself and the people around me.  Testing so far has been good and the guys in the team have been great; very helpful and have made me feel really welcome so it’s been easy for me to settle in and focus on performance.”

The 2018 BRDC British F3 will get underway the 31st of March in Oulton Park.

For the first time since his horrific accident in British F4, Billy Monger has driven a single-seater again. It happened two days ago, in Oulton Park, where the British driver tested with Carlin on a modified BRDC F3 car with an F4 chassis. His goal is clear: He wants to race again.

On April last year, in British F4, in Donington Park, teenager driver Billy Monger, aged 17 at that time, had an horrendous crash during the third race of the weekend. The consequence of this crash were atrocious for his career, as he got the lower part of both of his legs amputated.

Since then, and thanks to the donations of fans and racing drivers such as Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, among many others; he has only focused on recovering with one purpose, return to racing.

His training has basically consisted of working at the simulator in Carlin, where he has completed extesive testing sessions. In November, only seven moths after his crash, he completed a round of the V de V Sports. He has been related to a programme whose long-term aim is to place an entry in the Le Mans 24H only driven by disabled drivers.

He, however, has always said that his main goal is to return to race on single-seaters, and now, ten months after his accident, he has managed to drive one. He is also working with the FIA and the Motor Sports Association to eliminate a rule which prevents disabled drivers from racing.

For the moment, no information about how properly he has been able to drive or how good he has felt on the car has been revealed. There is also nothing known about his inmediate plans, but he probably will complete more testing sessions before he returns to a racing series.

The 17-year-old is the younger brother of GP3 driver Arjun Maini, who was runner up with Lanan in the 2014 BRDC F4 Championship, and joins British F3 after a strong season in the Italian F4 Championship. Maini scored two podiums at Imola and at Monza to end the season seventh overall in the standings, having been a constant contender in the top-10 throughout the year.

The Indian made his full-time car racing debut in 2016 and has also raced in the ADAC Formula 4 Series. Prior to his F4 career, Kush enjoyed a successful career in karting, winning the J.K. Rotax Max Micro Max title in 2011, as well as finishing fourth in the Asian Karting Open Championship.

Moving up in 2012 he finished third in the Trofeo Delle Industrie, seventh in the ROK International Final and eighth in the WSK Master series.

He shone in 2013, with a second place finish in the WSK Euro Series plus third in the WSK Master Series and further demonstrated his potential with fourth place in the 2014 CIK-FIA World KF Junior Championship, racing against drivers including Enaam Ahmed, the reigning BRDC British F3 champion, and Mick Schumacher, becoming the youngest Indian to finish in the top-five of a World Championship.

His success continued in 2015, winning the Trofeo Andrea Margutti in the KFJ category, as well as finishing fourth in the WSK Champions Cup and seventh in the WSK Super Masters Series, while also making his car racing debut in the JK Tyre National Racing Series where he secured his first podium finish in his second race.

Single seaters beckoned in 2016, with Maini enjoying an impressive first season in Italian F4, finishing fifth in the rookie standings and securing a podium finish at Vallelunga. He remained in the championship for 2017, while also racing at the Red Bull Ring for a round of the ADAC Formula 4 Championship.

Kush Maini commented:

“I’m really excited to be driving for Lanan Racing and in the BRDC British F3 Championship. Lanan has a history of success and based on the pre-season tests I’ve done, I’m highly confident about the season next year. Racing in British F3 was always an aim of mine and I’m looking forward to the challenges that will be presented to me in the 2018 season.”

Lanan Racing Team Principal Graham Johnson commented:

“We are very pleased to confirm Kush Maini as one of our drivers for the 2018 BRDC British F3 Championship. We’ve already started a comprehensive test and development programme so he can learn the British circuits ahead of the season and he’s showing a lot of potential. It’s great to be re-united with the Maini family, with whom we enjoyed a fantastic season in 2014, and we hope for more of the same in 2018.”
